Volunteer with PCHS

Each year, the Polk County Humane Society helps hundreds of homeless, sick, abused, and neglected animals. Each and every animal in our care receives and deserves medical attention, food, shelter, care, and love. However, to provide those things for so many lives would be impossible without volunteers.
Volunteer Needs
PCHS welcomes volunteers! Here are just some of the areas where we need your help:

- Shelter Volunteer Needs: Assist in the daily operations of our shelter. This includes, but is not limited to, dog walking and TLC, cat care and TLC, and general phone and office assistance.
- PetSmart Adoption Events Volunteer Needs: Help assist one of our upcoming Saturday adoption events in Springfield, MO. We need drivers to transport animals from Bolivar to Springfield, volunteers to help set-up/take-down tables and crates, and caretakers to walk the dogs during the 8-hour event.
- STD Flea Market Booth #78: We are always accepting small houseware items and what-nots to fill the shelves of our booth. You can drop donations off at the shelter, or call Angie at (417) 425-4558 to make arrangements.
- In- and Out-of-Area Transportation Volunteer Needs: Sign up to help transport animals in- and out- of the area. This could include transporting an animal to another rescue group or transporting animals to and from our PetSmart adoption events.
- Foster Program Volunteer Needs: Help PCHS by fostering an animal in need of a forever home!
- Grant Writing Volunteer Needs: Fundraise on behalf of the animals. We are in need of persistent researchers and strong writers. This can qualify for student internship work.
If you are interested in volunteering, download a volunteer form. Fill it out and return it to PCHS in person or by e-mail. A member will contact you with more information.
