With the help of foster homes and volunteers, Polk County Humane Society (PCHS) provides a safe haven for animals that have been abandoned, lost, or given up by their owners. PCHS is a no-kill animal shelter located in rural Missouri where adoption opportunities for abandoned dogs and cats are limited. We strive to educate the public, neuter animals in our care, and find them forever homes.

In addition to our shelter, we have a re-sell booth at 1820 East Trafficway in Springfield Missouri. All profits from this booth go toward the costs at the shelter. If you have small items that you would like to donate please E-mail the Shelter

After operating our services out of foster homes and animal control facilities for the past few years, we were excited to open our new shelter on October 1, 2010. The new shelter is located on Hwy 32, 1 and 1/2 miles west of Hwy 13.

In addition to the adoptions at the shelter, PCHS takes the animals to events in Springfield and other areas in hopes of giving the animals every chance to find their forever family.
